Third Generation Artist

Third generation artist Luis Enrique Gutierrez began as an apprentice under his father Helio Gutierrez at 12 years old. At a time where Helio was defining the contemporary movement in San Juan de Oriente, Nicaragua, Luis was learning and actively participating in the process.

Adding New Energy to the Family Tradition

A time comes when a young talent steps forward and makes his our name in the world. Because Luis started at such a young age at 15 years old he was able to translate his own geometric ideas into his own special ceramic sculptures.

Geometric designs and color combinations are brought to life in Luis’s work. His love for architecture translates into his designs. A new, contemporary energy has developed around his work.

Representing his Work Internationally

A major benefit for Luis and the third generation artists is their opportunity to travel internationally to represent their work. Bringing the family's work to the market place has been the biggest benefit to the advancement for the artisan community of San Juan de Oriente, Nicaragua.
